Learn the German Future Tense
The Future Tense (or das Futur in German) is one of the easiest tenses to learn. You just combine the helper verb werden with the infinitive of the verb. Remember that in German the present tense with extra words like “morgen” (tomorrow) will also often be used to represent the Future Tense.
When to use the German Future Tense
- Actions that will occur in the future
- Du wirst dein Zimmer reinigen. — You will clean your room.
- Expressing probability about something happening in the present (with helper adverbs)
- Ich werde das richtige Mädchen in der Stadt finden. — I will find the right girl in the city.
All verbs are conjugated exactly the same way for the future tense. You simply combine the present tense form of werden with the infinitive or “main” form of the verb.
